Carnitine, known as Carnitine in English, is a type of amino acid-like compound. Carnitine exists in two isomers, and the L-carnitine is commonly sold as a dietary supplement worldwide, often claimed to aid in fat burning and weight loss. However, according to some reports, these uses are not necessarily accurate, but L-carnitine is indeed a key substance in the process of fat metabolism, facilitating the transport of fatty acids into mitochondria for oxidation and breakdown. It can be said that carnitine acts as a carrier for the transport of fatty acids.
