Thermal Stability Analysis (DSC)
Thermal stability refers to the ability of a substance to resist irreversible changes in its chemical or physical structure at relatively high temperatures (usually by resisting decomposition or polymerization). Thermal stability is also a characteristic of certain proteins. For proteins that cannot withstand high temperatures, the intramolecular bonds in their tertiary and quaternary structures are broken as heat increases, causing the proteins to unfold and become inactive. Therefore, analyzing the thermal stability of protein-based bioproducts is a major aspect of their quality control.
Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) is a technique commonly used to directly identify the stability of proteins or other biomolecules in their natural state. DSC can efficiently and accurately analyze the thermal stability of bioproducts. Based on the dual quality certification system of CNAS/ISO9001, Bio-Techne BTP has established seven testing platforms and is equipped with the MicroCal VP-Capillary DSC system from Malvern Panalytical. This automated, integrated high-throughput platform can be applied to:
