Gut Microbiota Metabolite Testing
The gut microbiota, also known as the intestinal microbiome, refers to the microorganisms living in the digestive tracts of humans and other animals, including bacteria and fungi. In the human body, without the gut microbiota, some undigested carbohydrates would remain unconsumed because certain types of gut microbiota have enzymes for breaking down certain polysaccharides that human cells lack. Additionally, the gut microbiota can participate in human metabolism and co-metabolize with the human body, such as hormone metabolism, cholesterol, and bile acid metabolism, which are collaboratively accomplished by the gut microbiota and the human body. Increasing evidence suggests that gut microbiota and its metabolites play vital roles in human health and disease, making the exploration of the relationship between gut microbiota metabolites and diseases significant for disease prevention and treatment.
Gut microbiota metabolites affect host physiologyEMBO Rep, 2022)
The main metabolites of the gut microbiota include short-chain fatty acids, bile acids, amino acids, vitamins, choline metabolites, and indole derivatives. Utilizing metabolomics technology to qualitatively and quantitatively analyze gut microbiota metabolites helps understand the physiological state of the gut microbiota, thereby exploring the potential interaction mechanisms between gut microorganisms and hosts, as well as the effects of gut microbiota metabolism on host health and disease.
BiotechPacker provides a comprehensive testing package for gut microbiota metabolites, capable of detecting various substances such as short-chain fatty acids, medium and long-chain fatty acids, tryptophan metabolites, bile acids, purines, amino acids, and vitamins. You only need to send us your experimental objectives and sample, and we will handle all subsequent experiments. BiotechPacker has established a metabolomics research platform for gut microbiota metabolites based on Thermo's Q Exactive and AB's Q TOF 5600 mass spectrometers, employing different sample processing solutions according to your experimental objectives to efficiently extract metabolites for analysis, thereby enhancing the accuracy of metabolite identification and quantification while effectively addressing your biological questions. Furthermore, we offer proteomics and multi-omics integration analysis services. Feel free to inquire for more details.
About Samples
The common sample is a fecal sample, which needs to be collected in a sterile container to avoid contamination from the external environment; the sample amount should be sufficient for testing but not excessive; send it frozen at -80°C.
