Dear experts, how do I use the KEGG database to find the metabolic pathways of a specific microorganism? I have never used it before, how do I search? If anyone knows, thank you!

To find the metabolic pathway of a specific microorganism using the KEGG database, you can follow these steps:


1. Open the KEGG database website (https://www.kegg.jp/).

2. Enter the name or KEGG ID of the microorganism you want to search for in the search bar on the website. If you don't know the name of the microorganism, try entering its genus or other related information.

3. Click the search button, and the system will display results related to the keyword you entered.

4. On the search results page, you can see multiple strains or species related to the keyword you entered. Select the microorganism strain or species you are interested in.

5. Click on the link of the selected microorganism strain or species to enter the detailed information page for that microorganism strain or species.

6. On the detailed information page, you can see basic information about the microorganism strain or species, including classification, genome information, etc.

7. In the left navigation bar of the detailed information page, you can find a link named "Pathway" to enter the metabolic pathway page.

8. On the metabolic pathway page, you can see the known metabolic pathway information of the microorganism strain or species. This information is presented graphically, including pathway maps and related metabolites.

9. By clicking on each node in the pathway map, you can view detailed information about the corresponding metabolic enzymes, substrates, and products.

10. If you want to learn more about a specific metabolic pathway, you can click the link in the pathway map to enter the detailed page of that metabolic pathway.

11. On the detailed page of the metabolic pathway, you can view a detailed description of the pathway, the participating enzymes, substrates, and more.

12. If you want to further explore detailed information about an enzyme or substrate, you can click on the corresponding link to enter the detailed page of the enzyme or substrate.
