Post-translational modification proteomics and metabolomics integration analysis

Post Translational Modifications (PTMs) of proteins are covalent processing events that proteins undergo during or after translation. The post-translationally modified proteome refers to the overall level of post-translationally modified proteins in cells or tissues. Currently, known protein post-translational modifications mainly include glycosylation, phosphorylation, acylation, ubiquitination, disulfide bond pairing, methylation, and nitrosylation, among others. The metabolome is the overall level of small molecules (commonly referred to as metabolites) within cells, tissues, or organisms. Post-translationally modified proteins can regulate cellular biological processes and affect changes in the body's metabolism. Metabolism-affecting post-translationally modified proteins include not only post-translationally modified transcription factors but also post-translationally modified metabolic enzymes. Therefore, integrating analysis of post-translationally modified proteomes and metabolomes, and comparing their expression differences, is conducive to analyzing biological metabolic mechanisms from different perspectives, exploring differential modified proteins, metabolites, and the important pathways and related genes they participate in, for further in-depth research.
