In the analysis of differential metabolites between two sample groups, commonly used univariate analysis methods include Fold Change Analysis (FC Analysis), T-test, and Volcano Plot, which combines the first two methods. Univariate analysis can visually display the significance of metabolite changes between two samples, helping us to screen for potential marker metabolites (usually using FC>2.0 and P value<0.05 as screening criteria). The figure below shows the volcano plot of the data, where the magenta dots represent metabolites with FC>2.0 and P value<0.05, which are the differential metabolites screened by univariate statistical analysis. Volcano plots for other groups will be provided as attachments.
Volcano Plot Analysis
Note: Volcano plot of data results, green and red dots are significantly different metabolites (P value<0.05)
BiotechPack selects metabolites with multivariate statistical analysis screening criteria (VIP>1) and univariate statistical analysis screening criteria (FC > 2.0 and P value<0.05) as significantly different metabolites (Figure 12). The identified significantly different metabolites will be provided in table form.
