What is the best method to remove small contaminants from samples for mass spectrometry analysis?
For protein samples, Pierce Polyacrylamide Spin Desalting Columns (Thermo Fisher) can be used to remove salts and other low molecular weight contaminants. If the protein concentration is low, acetone precipitation is recommended, provided the sample contains at least 10 µg. For peptide samples derived from protein digests, Pierce Peptide Desalting Spin Columns, Pierce C18 Spin Tips, or online C18 trap columns can be used for sample purification.
