Ion Exchange Chromatography - What is the Difference Between Strong Ion Exchange Resins and Weak Ion Exchange Resins?
The terms 'strong' and 'weak' refer to the acidic/basic properties of the functional groups. If the ligand is derived from a strong acid or base, it is called a strong ion exchange resin. If the ligand is derived from a weak acid or base, it is called a weak ion exchange resin.
