Metal Content Analysis
Metal content analysis is a method primarily used to detect and measure the concentration of metal elements in a sample. It is an essential part of ensuring the efficacy and safety of bioproduct development and preparation. Common methods for metal content analysis include Atomic Absorption Spectrometry (AAS), X-Ray Fluorescence Spectroscopy (XRF), and Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS). AAS determines metal content by burning the sample and measuring the absorbance of specific elements. This method is simple, reliable, and cost-effective, but it typically measures only one element at a time and has a higher detection limit. XRF determines the type and content of elements by emitting X-rays to the sample and measuring the emitted fluorescence spectrum. XRF is a non-destructive method that causes minimal damage to the sample and is generally suitable for the analysis of solid samples.

ICP-MS determines the type and quantity of elements by creating a plasma and measuring the mass-to-charge ratio of particles. It can analyze all metal elements in the periodic table and simultaneously detect multiple elements with a very low detection limit (below 1 ppt), making it an important tool for metal content analysis. BioTech Pack (BTP) is certified by the dual quality systems of CNAS/ISO9001. The company has established a metal content analysis platform based on inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry, capable of qualitative and quantitative identification of metal elements in various recombinant proteins/peptides/antibody drugs, protein vaccines, recombinant collagen, and other bioproducts.
