CE-SDS Protein Isomerization Analysis
Protein isomerization analysis is a method used to study the differences in structure and function of proteins. Proteins are key molecules in life activities, and their functions are closely related to their structures. However, the same amino acid sequence may exist in multiple three-dimensional forms known as isomers. Protein isomerization can be caused by various factors such as post-translational modifications, heterologous expression, environmental factors, etc. The isomerization of monoclonal antibodies is one of the common pathways of protein degradation. Isomers may not only lead to changes in protein function but are also associated with various diseases, such as neurodegenerative diseases and cancer. Therefore, analyzing and identifying protein isomerization is crucial, especially in drug development and protein drug production.
Different protein isomers encoded by the same gene
Capillary Electrophoresis-Sodium Dodecyl Sulfate (CE-SDS) technology is an effective method for detecting and distinguishing protein isomers. Due to differences in charge, size, and shape among protein isomers, they have different migration rates in an electric field, allowing for their separation, detection, and identification. The advantages of this technology lie in its ability to analyze purified protein samples as well as complex biological samples such as cell lysates or tissue extracts. The high resolution of CE-SDS enables it to distinguish very similar isomers, and its high sensitivity, high resolution, and rapid nature provide a powerful tool for the structural and functional study of protein isomers.
Based on high-precision capillary electrophoresis instruments and protein electrophoresis principles, BTP (Biotechnology) has developed and validated a CE-SDS protein isomerization analysis platform.
