Deamidation Modification Analysis

Protein deamidation refers to the process where amidated amino acids in protein molecules, such as glutamine and asparagine, lose an ammonia molecule (NH3) under specific conditions, converting them into their corresponding acids, i.e., α-ketoglutaric acid and glutamic acid. Deamidation is a non-enzymatic post-translational modification, which is crucial for understanding protein charge distribution, function, stability, interactions with other molecules, and its relation to diseases. For example, β-amyloid protein associated with Alzheimer's disease may form fibrils more readily after deamidation. With the advancement of molecular biology and mass spectrometry technologies, analyzing protein deamidation modifications has become possible. Mass spectrometry can accurately identify specific sites in protein sequences that are subject to deamidation modifications, providing key information for studying protein function, structure, and interactions.233.

Protein Deamidation Modification Process
