Cardiovascular diseases are often associated with systemic inflammatory responses, such as increased expression of inflammatory proteins CRP, IL-1, IL-6, IL-18, and TNF-α. These proteins can be considered diagnostic markers for risk assessment of various cardiovascular diseases. For instance, CD40, which belongs to the tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily, and CD40L play a key role in T cell-dependent B cell responses. CD40 and CD40L also contribute to atherosclerosis and thrombosis. The pathological process of cardiovascular diseases is also linked to increased expression of adhesion molecules, particularly sICAM-1 and sVCAM-1. The inflammation process associated with heart disease begins with myocardial infiltration by activated monocytes and macrophages, leading to myocardial cell damage. The chemokine MCP-1 plays a crucial regulatory role in this process.
