TMT Protein Technology

TMT (Tandem Mass Tag) protein technology is a polypeptide in vitro labeling technique developed by Thermo Fisher Scientific in the United States. It is a labeling quantification technology based on in vitro chemical labeling.

The TMT label consists of three parts: a reporter group, a balance group, and a reactive group. It can form isobaric tags of 2, 6, 10, or 16 types with equal relative molecular mass. TMT protein technology uses 2/6/10/16 isotopic tags to specifically label the N-terminus or lysine side chain groups of protein peptides and covalently bind with them for mass spectrometry analysis, ultimately achieving qualitative and quantitative analysis of proteins in up to 16 different samples. TMT protein technology can label almost all peptide and protein samples and is commonly used in the analysis and research of differentially expressed proteins.
