MRM/PRM Quantitative Proteomics Analysis

MRM (Multiple Reaction Monitoring) is a targeted quantitative proteomics research method focusing on specific protein molecules. MRM selects data for mass spectrometry acquisition based on target molecule information, capturing signals that meet the target ion criteria and eliminating interference from non-compliant ion signals. MRM mass spectrometry analysis involves three stages: 1. Selecting precursor ions that specifically match the target molecule through MS; 2. Fragmenting these precursor ions to remove interference from other ions; 3. Collecting mass spectrometry signals only for selected specific MS/MS2 ions. MRM mass spectrometry technology is a highly precise technique for protein quantification, making it an excellent method for accurate quantitative analysis of multiple target proteins in complex samples. By using isotopically labeled target peptides as internal references, absolute protein quantification can be achieved.

Characteristics of MRM technology

• High sensitivity, selecting ions consistent with target ions through two stages of mass spectrometry, excluding interfering ions, significantly improving signal-to-noise ratio and enhancing detection accuracy of target ions
